happy birthday! (candle cupcake toppers)

As I mentioned, I'm working from a borrowed kitchen whilst we await our dream house to arrive on the market. I won't be able to get back to cookies until this weekend at least, so in the interim, I have this little project, candle cupcake toppers... so everyone at the birthday party can get a candle on their cupcake. I love all feedback, so if this concept is appealing let me know and I'll add a bunch more templates.

how to make a candle cupcake topper

you will need:

color printer
good, thick, 8 1/2 x 11 " photo paper

4 " lollipop sticks

craft glue
cupcakes

scissors

step one: print your template
Print out the template at the bottom of this post on nice photo paper. (Click on photo of candles and print.) Each template has 1 purple, 2 green and 2 blue candles. I'm trying to play with scribd.com with a link to the pdf, too, as blogger won't let me load pdfs. So you can hopefully also get the template here.

step two: cut out your candles
Cut out candles with scissors and cut out a backing (the same shape) with photo paper. I fold the paper in half and just cut both at once.

step three: assemble your candles
For each candle, lay the GOOD candle face down and cover with craft glue. Place lollipop stick on candle and line up the backing candle on top. Press the back candle down over the lollipop stick and hold until sticks. Let dry.

  1. I think these are totally cute! Unfortunately don't have any birthdays coming up soon ... otherwise I would try them straight away ... :-)
Do you happen to have any valentine themed ones? (Just because that's coming up soon ...)

    Thanks for sharing

  4. Wow.. this is interesting! I think for small children, instead of real candles, it would be better to put this candle cupcake topper :)

Can't wait to see more other templates.

  5. I thought they were candle cookies at first glance, which I think would look great atop a cupcake.

  6. Yeah, I've really been getting into cupcake toppers lately. Easy way to dress up cupcakes for a party.

I HAVE also done candle cookies on a stick, just like this, and used them as cupcake toppers. I also did the number "1" on a stick as cupcake toppers for my daughter's 1st birthday.
