Hi everyone! I had planned on another post this week, but I'm out of town with my almost-4-year old up in New Jersey and my mom is without wifi. So I've been sneaking away to the library and Starbucks to post on my other blog, but that's about it given my disconnect.
It's cookie free, but I will share with you where I am... the grand town (rather, borough) of Sea Girt, NJ. My mom grew up here, though my grandparent's house on Brooklyn Blvd has long been sold. Luckily, my daughter has conquered her sand and sea fear and has even braved the waves with me. As the beach is in my blood, I was hoping it would be in hers, and I think it just might be. My great grandfather, William H.H. Lake, was the light house keeper HERE. And my grandfather, Elvin "Toots" Lake, was a life guard on the beach. He even rescued a bunch of people once, when the Morro Castle cruise ship tragically caught fire three miles off shore in 1934. (Click the link to read the fascinating story.)
I'll be back soon!
